Deck the Halls with Truth
Parents, here is some food for thought and heads up...it might be a bit tough to chew, but I felt compelled to share:
How much time, money, and energy do we spend encouraging belief in the
figures below?
Even if you spend the majority of time on the figure to the far right,
it is very likely that most do spend a great amount of effort on the other four
(some more than others, especially around Christmas).
But let’s look at the numbers: at some point, the child will “lose the
magic” or “lose the innocence” of childhood, and begin to question and doubt
the figures below. If you are a professing Christian, I’m sure you would hope
that the child maintains faith in the figure to the far right. However...
As the “magic” is lost, the “innocence” is outgrown, 80% of their
fantastic world has just been shown to be absolute hogwash, malarkey,
balderdash: B.O.LO.G.N.A. It may be tough to read, but it’s true. If time has
been given to encourage belief in the four figures to the left, then that time,
money, and energy has been spent on a lie. It may seem fun and magical, but at
its core, it is delusion.
For some of you with kids, you may have already started the belief in
some or all of those four figures to the left. My encouragement for you is to
prepare now: shift the greatest majority of your efforts and focus to the
figure to the far right. Encourage belief in what is True!
For you who have extremely small children, or are hoping for children
soon, please pray through this. Be warned, though: if you end up not
encouraging belief in the four to the left, you may face some ridicule, your
child may be singled out by their peers, but at the end of the day, it is worth
it. We live in a world that is locked in a war over Truth. We need to engage in the battle as early and as fervently as possible. Start building that
foundation of faith in the figure to the far right soon, and take full
advantage of every opportunity.
The figure in the middle was after my time, but I grew up believing,
REALLY believing in all the others. Thankfully, God sustained my faith in the
One to the far right as the Way, TRUTH, and Life. However, I do remember the
transition, and it wasn’t easy. Err on the side of Truth.
PS...if you are tempted to think that a childhood without belief in
the four on the left is without wonder and would be rendered unexciting...I
would encourage you to read my previous post about my amazement with
Christmas. 🎄
May God bless you greatly!
