IF / THEN Simplicity

There is something wonderfully simple about an IF / THEN statement. It is a basic truth of creation that roots must be connected to the trunks, vines, limbs, and branches of the plant for fruit to be produced. Jesus knew how to give us Truth in a way that we would be constantly reminded. The Fruit of a tree identifies the Root of a tree. Most people even vaguely familiar with Scripture have probably heard the Fruit of the Spirit: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, gentleness, faithfulness, and self-control. These are the OUTWARD manifestations of the INWARD reality of our hearts. For the Working Believer who longs to serve in the workplace, living and sharing the Gospel, we must take the IF / THEN statement in this verse seriously: IF we want to bear much fruit in our daily lives, THEN we must abide in Christ, and allow Him to abide in us. IF we neither abide in Christ, nor allow Him to abide in us, THEN not only will we be unfruitful, but we will not be able to do anything. Every morning we need to make it our number one priority to ABIDE in Him, and surrender our pride of life and glorification of self to allow Him to abide in us. Stay connected. Stay fruitful. Glorify the Lord.

Belief is Precious: Guard it!

The belief and trust of a child is are precious things. Christian parents, please be cautious. Traditions of Santa, or Elf on a Shelf, may be fun, but in reality, they are simply delusions. Lies. If we have to foster and encourage real belief in fictitious characters to create the wonder and excitement of Christmas, I wonder do we truly know the wonder and excitement of an infinite God putting on finite flesh to fulfill a requirement we could never achieve to gain a favor with God we could never earn? Christ, born of a virgin, Emmanuel, God with us, living a perfect life to fulfill the law on our behalf, taking the full wrath and judgment of God for our sins that we could never survive, conquering death that would see us eternally defeated, and rising again to grant us life eternal with the Father which, without The righteousness of Christ, we would never know.
